A Continent-Wide Bellydance Calendar

Alaska Bellydancers, Groups and Troupes, Drummers and other Musicians

Use the list below to find your favorite bellydancer, try out some new classes, or explore some new music!  Listings are alphabetical, but if you don't have time for that, there's a handy search box.  The listings on this page are for Alaska.  You will find a consolidated list for dancers and musicians under the Bellydancers tab.

These listings are not limited to bellydancers.  Shimmy America welcomes drummers and other musicians who specialize in bellydance music, and we realize this is a broad spectrum.  The more the merrier!

It's free to post your listing, but you must be registered with our site.

Add yourself to the Shimmy America listings by submitting your info with the Dancer and Musician Form.  It's fast and painless!  You'll be able to update and change your own info as needed, by clicking on the pencil to the right of your own listing.

Kaleido World Percussion and Dance Company

Kaleido is a music and dance company in Seward Alaska dedicated to exploring, training and developing a community group that expresses the beauty and diversity of world percussion and dance styles.
My love of the beautiful and ancient art of belly dance, the wonderful music and rhythms of North Africa, the kaleidoscope of beautiful colors and designs of costumes, jewelry and dance styles inspired me to form Kaleido.”
“I have always thought that dancing is a perfect way to paint a three dimensional picture of the music, and that the key to a beautiful performance or painting is to be the music”.
“To do that we help our students understand the music. What better way to understand it than to learn to play it. The goal of Kaleido is to train dancers to be both musicians and dancers, preferably at the same time!”
Kaleido’s current focus and training is on American Tribal Style (ATS) belly dance and Middle- Eastern and North African rhythms.   Mary Ann Benoit is the Director of Kaleido and a certified FCBD ATS instructor and sister studio.
